Member Highlight – Meet Anthony!

Why did you decide to try CrossFit? 
I recently moved to Saint Paul from Nashville and knew I needed to find a gym. I picked CrossFit to take advantage of the group classes and meet other people. Also, CrossFit classes are smaller and I wanted closer relationship with a coach. 

How is having a CrossFit coach changed your workout or fitness results?
Form and mobility have improved dramatically since joining Slipstream. However, it is not surprising at all to me since Slipstream really stresses the importance of those core principles. Also, I believe being coached in the gym transfers well outside the gym. I find myself much more open to feedback in business.

How has doing CrossFit affected your health and/or life? 
CrossFit has given me structure and something I can count on during the week. My job can be stressful at times and usually its artificial and temporary. Coming in to the gym to catch up with other members then focusing on getting through a tough workout can take my mind off of things. By the end, I’ve forgotten whatever troubles I had during the day. I end the day feeling accomplished.

What is your favorite CrossFit movement? 
The barbell deadlift. It is satisfying to watch yourself pick up a challenging weight then hear the weight drop against the ground.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying CrossFit? 
Don’t be intimidated and give it a shot. Commit to giving it a few tries before making a decision on whether it is right for you. No matter where you are on your personal journey or plan, there is something for everyone. Just don’t let fear or excuses hold you back.
