SEPTEMBER MEMBER HIGHLIGHT – MEET CHRIS!

CrossFit Sliptream

1.Why did you decide to try CrossFit?

I had previously been really good at exercising for about three months in a row and then stopping for about the same amount of time.  Long term I wasn’t seeing improvement and I didn’t feel fit.  I was bored at the gym. I wanted to find a community of people who were enthusiastic about fitness and something that could keep me interested for the long term.

2. How has having a coach changed your workout or fitness results?

Having a coach has allowed me to identify issues that were holding me back in my results and come up with a plan to deal with my weaknesses.  I never realized that flexibility and mobility had been holding back my progress.  John has helped me immensely on working to improve my mobility.  Not only is this helping me to progress in my fitness in the short term, it will help me to remain active for the rest of my life.

3. How has CrossFit affected your life/health?

I have become a lot more fit since I started CrossFit.  After about 8 months of CrossFit I can lift as much if not more than I did when I was a high school athlete.  I recently ran a mile about a minute faster than I ever had before without specifically training for it! I can do a lot of movements now, like handstand pushups, that I had never been able to do before.   This has carried over to my daily life where I have a lot more energy and confidence in my ability to acomplish difficult tasks.  I actually look forward to working out now!

4. What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying CrossFit?

Do it!  The community at CrossFit Slipstream is great!  We have a wide variety of ages and athletic abilities, and we all have a great time working out together.  Everyone is very supportive and John is great at scaling the workouts so everyone can be safe and get an excellent workout.
